Lauren Pakradooni is a resent MFA graduate from Rhode Island School of design in the department of printmaking. She has been an instructor of courses in drawing and printmaking while an artist in residence in the Painting and Printmaking department of VCUQatar.
Her works in printmaking, installation, drawing, and other media reflect on the very architecture that she has inhabited while in residence, and the definitions of both private and public space. Hallways, windows, and other passageways are depicted in a narrative of a world where that is either just beginning or in a post-apocalyptic state. The ominous feeling from looking at seemingly empty space suggests a certain type of loss or isolation, but also an exciting anticipation of what might be around the corner.
